Proverbs 5
This chapter oddly gives me a good feeling. I love reading about these warnings against adultery and about marriage in general. It let's me know that God is on my side, He wants my marriage to not only work but be thriving. The age old saying "a happy wife is a happy life" is always said to guys but it's so true for me as a wife. When I am working on my marriage and be intentional to do and not do certain things then I am all around in a good mood, and when I'm in a good mood my husband is too. I know this chapter is warning against adultery but I like the guidance and to know that God is rooting for me and my husband :)

Proverbs 3 and 4
Proverbs 3:5-6 is such an awesome verse! I find myself leaning on God for the big decisions in life; buying a house, having a baby, moving to Arizona, work, etc.. but in the every day stuff it is quickly forgotten. When me and Butch are shopping and we see something that we just "have" to have because it's on sale, but we know we wouldn't have bought it if we didn't happen to walk by it in the store, I don't always think about praying about it... in fact, we will even talk about it for hours after leaving the store whether or not we should buy it when all we need to do is ask God. He knows what is to come and we've learned the hard way, especially with money, that God is the only one who knows whats in store for us. I don't know how many times we've come into a little bit of extra money and we're thinking "this is awesome! We go shopping and go out to dinner every night this week!" When shortly after we find out what that money was intended for - like getting pregnant with Addy and no medical insurance, or Butch losing his job, or finding out we owe back taxes. I just know that in any and every situation in life, if I trust in the Lord with ALL my heart, and don't try and make decisions based on my own understanding, He will direct my path towards His plan for my life.
Again, Proverbs 4 is all about getting wisdom! There are times that I'm sure we've all been through after that "intense conversation" with our husbands that we think to ourselves: hmm, maybe I shouldn't have said that, or maybe I should have asked him why before I started a yell fest... and that is where the WISDOM would have come in handy!! It's easy to look back and critique what happened and what you could have done differently, but where change happens is in the "intentional". It's when you see that an argument may arise and you stop to pray before hand. And during you continue to pray that God will show you His heart and use His words because every time I use my words and lean on my own wisdom I seem to fail. I can't do it alone, none of us can, but for some reason we always try and it just doesn't get the same results.

To sell or not to sell....
I made this little ruffle bottom romper last night for Addy and it turns out that I love it!! I really want to sell these and it wasn't all that difficult to make but it was quite time consuming! I'm at a loss as to whether or not I should start selling them. I think I will put it on my website and do a trial run. Everything is fun the first time I make it because I'm creating something new but when I start getting orders is when I find out if it will last or not. We'll see!!

Proverbs 1 and 2

I love how much Proverbs talks about wisdom. When I'm reading this book of the bible I tend to pray for wisdom a LOT more than when I'm not... let's face it, who prays for wisdom every day? It's so simple to do yet we forget so quickly how important God's wisdom is in our lives. When talking on the phone to an annoying sales rep, when someone cuts in front of you in line at Target, when the Starbucks associate sees you at the counter and keeps talking to their friend instead of helping you... praying for wisdom isn't always the first thing on my mind. But when I do - WOW, what an attitude difference. I think about the sales rep who would rather be home with there family then working at a job that they hate, or the person who cut in front of me because their baby is at home crying because they ran out of formula, or the Starbucks associate who is lending an ear to their friend who feels like they've hit rock bottom.
Being fairly young I would say that wisdom doesn't exactly come easy to me. "...They will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes..." This is great to think of when you're sitting at home and your husband asks you to get him a soda and he's sitting just as close to the kitchen as you, and all you're thinking is 'well I don't think he would do that for me... I'm not his slave... who does he think he is?' (Let's face it we all think that at some point) so you say "get up and get it yourself!" I know that I will eat the fruit of my ways!! I can't control what anyone else does but I know that when I am kind and loving towards others, especially my husband, other want to give right back. A good friend of mine said the most obvious yet simple thing to me not too long ago. She said "when your cup is full and overflowing, you're not thirsty for love and attention, you're wanting to fill up someone else's cup." So expecting your husband to fill your cup when his is barely half full is not very wise. You have to be willing to overflow their cup first
and they will in turn fill yours.
It's no mystery why the bible talks about adultery and sexual immorality constantly. It is all around us. If we are not aware of it we can easily get sucked into a hole that we can't dig out of. In chapter two verse 16 "[Wisdom] will save you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words..." This is something that a lot of people don't like talking about... until it's gossip because it happened to someone you know. Well their is a spiritual battle going on and the devil sure knows how to ruin a good thing... and adultery is where he puts his advertising money. This isn't just for men, but for women as well. Pray for wisdom! Know your boundaries. If you aren't sure if something is right then pray about it. And if you still aren't sure then remember this : when in doubt throw it out! Make a commitment to God that you will guard your eyes and heart and it will keep you from a lot of torment in the end.

Proverbs 31 (tomorrow I will catch up on 1 and 2)
Proverbs 31 is my very favorite Proverb! It talks about the "wife of noble character". Oh for those Stay at Home Mommies this is what we need for encouragement! "...Her husband has full confidence in her.." which means she makes sound decisions and is wise with what she deals with. "...She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family..." I am the first one to admit how much I complain about how early I have to get up for the baby, but really, I could be getting up before the baby and spend some time preparing for my day so that it is less stressful on me and everyone else. "...She sets about her work vigorously..." We all know that being a Stay at Home Mom can be a somewhat overlooked job and maybe a little bit under-appreciated but when we make it a point to be a noble woman for God it makes it just a little bit easier. At least for me, I know that God sees everything I am doing and I know that my daughter is watching me constantly as well and picking up on my routines. It's not wrong to want a "thank you" every now and then but it's not productive and will surely be a let down if all you're working towards is constant gratitude. "...She is clothed in fine linen and purple..." now I know we don't relate purple to wealth like they used to but this is such an important verse for wives, especially who stay home. I spend countless days in pajamas, workout clothes, t-shirts, and my husband is probably wondering where that girl that he fell in love with went. I really want to strive this year to wake up and get ready - make up, real clothes and all so that my husband doesn't have any reason to wish that the "old me" was still around! Of course my favorite right now is "...She makes linen garments and sells them..." hehe, alright I got one!! And a few more: "...She can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household... Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her..." And a great one to remember always for any women: "...Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting' but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised..."
